Icelandic Horses
ICELANDIC HORSES
Photography and Digital Manipulations by Susan M. Edgerton
The first corral provided ample material (though, regrettably, I failed to provide my camera with enough memory) to prove that Icelandic horses are both spirited and friendly. While several were busy establishing heirarchy within their community, others approached and begged to have their photos taken. They "twisted my arm" with their gentle faces, which became fodder for my imagination within the world of image manipulation. Someday, they will reincarnate as unicorns, I believe.
The Icelandic horse is also hardy and adaptable, being both athletic and independant. It has five gaits - the Walk, Trot, Canter, Tolt and Pace. The Icelandic is distintive in appearance with its thick main and long tail and is popular in horse shows and competitons for dressage, jumping and endurance races.
